"30 For 30": Celebrating 30 Years of Community

Our month-long passport to skills, creativity, & connection

This year marks a special milestone for the Friends of Storrs Library (FOSL): 30 years of dedicated service and support to the Longmeadow community.  To celebrate this remarkable anniversary, FOSL is excited to present “30 For 30”, a month-long event designed to bring people together and empower them with new and practical skills that enhance everyday life.

Over 30 days, participants will have the opportunity to attend 10 engaging sessions, each featuring three presentations focused on a unique theme. Sessions are crafted to offer easy-to-learn skills that can be mastered in one sitting and seamlessly incorporated into daily routines.  The themes for this exciting series are:

  • The Art of Elevated Entertaining: Small Touches Big Impact
Transform everyday hosting into an art form with easy, elegant skills
  • Around the House: The Home Skills Workshop
Practical skills and smart solutions to enhance your daily living
  • Mind & Motion: Skills to Amaze
Learn remarkable tricks to surprise, delight, and sharpen your mind
  • Master Your Look: A Beauty & Style Intensive

  • Kitchen Confidence: From Prep to Pastry

  • The Paper Studio: Crafting Beauty & Nostalgia
Bring timeless charm to life with every fold, cut, and brush stroke
  • Adventure Unlocked: The Savvy Traveler’s Toolkit

  • Self-Care Fundamentals: Nurture Your Mind & Body

  • Technology 101: Digital Creator Edition

  • Safety First: Essential Life Skills
Equip yourself with the vital skills to keep your loved ones safe and secure

These themes represent a wide array of interests and skills; from mastering the perfect party details to essential home organization, from boosting digital creativity to enhancing personal wellness.  The presentations will be led by passionate volunteers from the community and surrounding areas, sharing their expertise for free. This unique collaboration truly embodies the spirit of community engagement that has defined the FOSL for three decades.

Each session is designed to be accessible and engaging, making it easy for participants to jump in, learn something new, and walk away with practical skills to enhance their daily lives. Whatever your interests, 30 For 30 has something to offer.  All 30 For 30 events are free to attend, thanks to the generosity of our volunteer presenters.  We invite everyone in Longmeadow and surrounding communities to take part in this month-long celebration!
